Child sexual assault and the forensic examination (Level 3+, 4 and 5) online two day course
Working with children who have experienced sexual assault can be emotive and complex. In order for children to receive effective and compassionate care, it is important that paediatricians not only have the best possible technical knowledge and skills, but also give due consideration to the emotional needs of the child.
This two day online course is structured to equip paediatricians with both the technical and forensic skills to obtain high quality samples, and the knowledge and understanding of the physical, emotional and procedural considerations of managing children who have experienced suspected sexual assault.
The first day consists of expert led lectures and workshops, followed by a second day, one week later, of assessments. Alongside this, you will have access to a selection of recorded lectures and videos on key topic areas for viewing as part of your pre-course activities.
Course dates (you must be able to attend both days):
Thursday 24 June 2021, 09:30 – 17:15 and
Thursday 1 July 2021, 09:00 – 16:00 (you will be allocated a two-hour slot for your assessments)
The course times are shown in BST (British Summer Time)
