Common Questions Directed at Experts in Non-Fatal Strangulation Cases
Wednesday 6 January 2027 | 1:00–2:00pm
Professor Cath White OBE, Medical Director, IFAS
Clinical experts involved in non-fatal strangulation cases can be asked to address complex questions about what the available medical evidence can – and cannot – demonstrate.
This webinar will explore common questions directed to experts, including level of force and duration of pressure; loss of consciousness, incontinence and death; absence of visible injury; alternative causes of neck injury; self-inflicted injury; stroke; and questions relating to an alleged attempt to kill. The use of available medical literature will be explored.
Who is this for?
Forensic clinicians who are already experienced in the clinical management of non-fatal strangulation, and who are undertaking expert witness work or considering doing so.
About the speaker: Professor Catherine White OBE is Medical Director of IFAS and former Clinical Director of Saint Mary’s SARC, with extensive expertise in the clinical and forensic aspects of non-fatal strangulation.
Certificate of attendance provided.
