Recommendations – Management of Diabetes Mellitus in Custody

This guidance is to assist the management of diabetics for Forensic Physicians (FP) and other Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) working in the custodial environment. It is concerned with the care of the detained person with Type 1 diabetes [formerly known as insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM)] or Type 2 diabetes [formerly known as noninsulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM)].
