Mountain Healthcare Job – Specialty Forensic Physician

Mountain Healthcare Ltd has created a framework to develop key areas of knowledge and skills for those who may already have existing experience in SARC or Custody. This role will allow the clinician to be trained to the high standards required to work in Paediatric SARCs, Custody and provide up-to-date, evidence-based clinical advice as a Specialty Forensic Physician. This is a zero-hours vacancy, though part and full time applications will also be considered.

Salary range

£72,463 to £76,076

In this role, you will undergo shadowing/training in a Paediatric SARC, within custody, and receive support in photo-documentation and report-writing for clinical cases seen.
We will identify an individualised programme of education and exposure to clinical environments, providing opportunities for examinations, in addition to financial support to further training whilst undertaking this post.

As part of the role, you will be working across the following clinical rotas:
– Paediatric SARC;
– Adult SARC (if the service requires but not primary role);
– Police Custody

Additionally taking part in research, audit, teaching and sitting FFLM exams will be encouraged.

Main duties of the job

  • Providing telephone advice services to Mountain Healthcare staff & face to face clinical work in Police Custody and Sexual Assault Referral Centres
  • Taking forensic samples
  • Documenting and interpreting any injuries found during examination
  • Signposting & conducting referrals; offering support for vulnerabilities
  • Promoting good personal healthcare
  • Working with other agencies and services
  • Assisting the Court in all relevant medico-legal matters.
  • To submit statements/reports to the Police Officer in charge of a case.
  • Work in accordance with the current guidelines as may from time to time be published by the British Medical Association and the Faculty of Forensic and Legal Medicine, the GMC, the Home Office and any other relevant organisations.
  • Please note, travel will be an essential requirement of this role.

Training & Development
