Statement Writing and Court Skills

For many people, appearing in Court as a witness is a daunting task. Even for doctors and other healthcare professionals, the idea of presenting evidence as a professional witness to a courtroom of strangers is intimidating: they may feel that they are the ones on trial. The FFLM is organising its first Statement Writing and Courtroom Skills Day on Sat 13th July 2013, to address many of the concerns that doctors, nurses and paramedics have when faced with a Court appearance. Our presenters include barristers and doctors with extensive courtroom experience. Topics to be covered will include: Good and bad practice in statement writing. Courtroom Basics, including types of Courts, personnel, etiquette, forms of address and the role of the Healthcare Professional. Presenting evidence professionally and confidently. Dealing with tough questioning. Liability issues. Mock courtroom scenarios. We hope you can make it. We look forward to seeing you there. Will Anderson, Jenny Holmes and Priya Iyer. Course organisers The deadline for bookings is Friday 21 June 2013. This course is suitable for for MFFLM and Licentiate candidates.
