Patient Focused!

Getting a photo “right” can make a huge difference in managing patients: whether it’s a skin lesion or injury that needs to be discussed with colleagues, or a rash or ulcer that has to be monitored, a well-taken photograph can be invaluable to the clinician and can make an important contribution to daily practice.

A  four day course has been established for clinicians in how to photograph patients professionally, ethically and legally. The course is accredited with the British Institute of Professional Photography (BIPP). Students who pass the assessment on day four will be eligible to apply for licentiate membership of BIPP which awards the “LBIPP” post-nominal.

Each course is conducted by experienced photographers and doctors: all are BIPP-qualified. The course will attract 27 CPD points (pending approval) and is approximately 50% theory and 50% practical. It will cover ethical and legal issues such as consent, confidentiality, data protection and GMC guidelines.
