Mental Healthcare Issues in Custody

The FFLM will be holding the next Mental Healthcare Issues in Custody day on Saturday 09 June 2018 at the Birmingham Conference and Events Centre. 

The training day will include guidance on the assessment of mental health in terrorist suspects and the elderly and the effects of the changes to s.136 of the Mental Health Act 1983.

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Chief Inspector Michael Brown OBE (Mental Health Coordinator, College of Policing);
  • Professor Keith Rix (Visiting Professor of Medical Jurisprudence and Honorary Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist, Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Trust);
  • Professor Nigel Eastman (Emeritus Professor of Law and Ethics in Psychiatry, St George's University of London, Honorary Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist);
  • Dr Arghya Sarkhel (Consultant Psychiatrist, Living Mind);
  • Dr Richard Taylor (Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist, Barnet Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust);
  • Dr Benjamin Walden (Consultant Psychiatrist, Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Trust).
