CANCELLED AND UNPUBLISHED - Introductory Course in Clinical Forensic Medicine

CANCELLED DUE TO INSUFFICIENT NUMBERS - IW CONFIRMED BY EMAIL ON 13/5/14 The College of Policing, in conjunction with The Faculty of Forensic & Legal Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians, offers a one-week joint training course in foundation skills for Doctors and Healthcare Professionals working in Clinical Forensic Medicine. This session will run subject to demand. Who should attend Newly appointed or prospective Forensic Physicians and Forensic Nurses. Course content includes: Consent & Confidentiality, Classification of injuries, Drink/ Drugs driving, Fitness to detain/interview, Substance misuse, Mental Health, Deaths in Custody, Sexual offences and examination, Child abuse and safeguarding children, PACE and the Custody Officer. Training content is regularly updated from the Faculty of Forensic Medicine and the College of Policing. Students will personally experience a court room scenario using Crown Court Advocates from the Crown Prosecution Service. Training is provided by expert Forensic Physicians, College of Policing Forensic Trainers, Forensic Scientist and the Crown Prosecution Service. Contemporary course notes, handouts and reading list will be provided. The course is assessed in three areas; • Witness Statement & Medical Notes • Court Room Presentation • Multi Choice Questionnaire Cost of course includes accommodation, full board and tuition at the College of Policing, Forensic Centre, Harperley Hall.
