9th Cross Channel Conference

We are delighted to welcome you to the 9th Cross Channel Conference (CCC). This conference is held every three years for delegates with an interest in forensic and legal medicine from France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and the United Kingdom – but we know it is attracting world wide interest and there are already confirmed speakers from around the world. The United Kingdom’s contribution has previously been via the Association of Forensic Physicians (AFP) but because of the formation of the Faculty of Forensic and Legal Medicine and the resulting impending closure of the AFP, the programme has been widened to be of interest to medico-legal advisers and medical coroners as well. Studying the academic programme you will seen that the whole of the first day is devoted to issues arising from the case of the serial murderer, Dr Harold Shipman – with the keynote address from Sir Graeme Catto, President of the General Medical Council and contributions from forensic pathologists involved in the case. Friday morning will focus on the topic of medical manslaughter and the rest of the programme to include parallel sessions on sexual assault, child abuse, legal medicine, forensic pathology and science and clinical forensic medicine – so we hope that there will be something to interest everyone. Places for the Cross Channel Conference are filling very quickly so please apply soon to avoid disappointment. Details of the revised academic programme can be downloaded by clicking on the top right hand link. (06/04/2007)
