Sexual Offences Forum – Expressions of Interest

22nd June 2009

The Faculty of Forensic and Legal Medicine wishes to set up a sexual offences forum.

Many lead clinicians working in the field of sexual offence medicine may find that much of the time they are working in isolation with responsibility for training and supervision of doctors and ensuring clinical governance.

This Forum would consider clinical issues; looking at how best practice developed in different areas can be shared within the group leading to improved standards in the care of sexual assault complainants. Specific Issues to be addressed will include policy development and review; clinical training and supervision issues; clinical peer review; appraisal and revalidation; continuing medical education; and audit and research.

It is envisaged that the forum would meet twice a year, with the first meeting in the autumn, and report to the Academic Dean.

If you are a Medical Director of a Sexual Assault Referral Centre or a Lead Physician working in this field please reply to this message by 6th July 2009 expressing an interest in being involved in the forum. Please send a brief (maximum one-page) cv outlining your role in this area.
