MFFLM Part 2

Certificate of Merit

There will be a "Certificate of Merit" for an outstanding candidate on completion of the Part 2 Examination in:

  • Forensic medicine General Forensic Medicine
  • Forensic medicine Sexual Offence Medicine
  • Legal medicine

A certificate will only be awarded provided the necessary standard has been reached. The award will be made on the recommendation of the Chief Examiner and ratified by the FFLM Board.




MFFLM Part 1 Examination

The MFFLM Part 1 Examination is designed to assess a candidate's knowledge and understanding of legal medicine relevant to medical practice.

Candidates will be tested on a wide range of topics in forensic and legal medicine as set out in the Syllabus which can be found in Schedule 1 of Regulations and Information for Candidates July 2011.


Entry Requirements

Candidates:

  • must hold a medical qualification recognised by the Faculty of Forensic and Legal Medicine;
  • will not be admitted to the MFFLM Part 1 Examination until 2 years after the date of graduation given on their diploma of medical qualification (unless they hold a previous qualification in law and they intend to gain Part 2 in medico‐legal medicine). Application Checklist

Candidates should send:

  • application form;
  • UK General Medical Council (GMC) Registration Number OR if not registered, Diploma of Primary Medical Qualification (authenticated copy only);
  • fee in pounds Sterling (online or by cheque).

Changes to fees

Following the Faculty's experience with the first round of examinations, and comparing our fee structure with those of other colleges and faculties, we have decided to amend the fees for both parts of the exam.
